Inspriation
All my life i have been interested in design, i was told at high school that i was not good enough to go to university or college to complete a design course, and maybe I’m not the best designer, but always believed that i have great ideas, and that my colour selections and design skills were worthy of further education. So years later i did that course and proved the high school councilor wrong.
Further more i believe that all great designers get their ideas and create great pieces because they have great inspiration. Lately i have become seemingly more aware of of social media, and the AMAZING content of other designers websites, and blog posts. If you had mentioned to me a year ago, that i would be sitting here at 7.57am typing a “post” telling the world just where i get my inspiration from, i would have laughed at you and said that you were just that little bit silly.
At the beginning of this year i signed up to Twitter (http://twitter.com/AestheticInt) and found that after only a couple of weeks of trying to figure out exactly how to work it, i began stumbling across some of these amazing designers.
As far as inspiration goes i know that i am inspired by many things, and learning to take this inspiration and place them in my designs has become my challenge this year. I believe that learning from what we research, and learning from other peoples experiences and triumphs is a major part of the design process, taking little ideas, and learning new tricks of the trade, reading about what is hot overseas, what is coming to us shortly, as well as what people are really thinking – is a great way to extend your knowledge of design and pass on what you have learnt from your research to your own clients, making your own designs and selections more up to date and in tune with the current market.
Of course my inspiration comes from other things as well, you can’t go past a great sunrise without being inspired to create something just as magnificent, just as you cant listen to a great song without feeling that sense of empowerment and feel all your fantastic ideas raising to the surface.
As a colour consultant i know that people are looking for designers with experience and knowledge, i now know that this knowledge can come from many sources, and now in the 21st century these sources and part of my inspiration to continue designing can be found from the convince of my desk.
